Aerosmith made a surprise return to the stage at the Hollywood Bowl on Thursday night, marking the band's first live performance in over three years since an injury forced them to cut their farewell tour short.
The Performance
Playing a 45-minute set, frontman Steven Tyler showed no vocal issues, backed by bandmates Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, and Brad Whitford. Dave Grohl temporarily took over drum duties for the first five numbers of the six-song finale, before original drummer Joey Kramer joined the stage for a dual-drumming conclusion alongside drum tech John Douglas. Johnny Depp also joined Perry on stage to play guitar on the song 'Train Kept A-Rollin''.
Opening Acts and Guests
The nearly four-hour evening featured opening tribute sets from the Black Crowes and Guns N' Roses, alongside guest appearances by artists including Eric Church, Sammy Hagar, Billy Idol, and Warren Haynes.
Context
The concerts are produced by 724 Management and Blackbird Presents, with filming equipment suggesting the shows are being recorded for a future special or documentary. It remains unconfirmed whether these performances mark the permanent end of the band's touring career.
