State-owned Gas Authority of India Ltd has reported more than double its net profit at ₹4,650.22 crore for the September quarter. The strong financial performance came from a big improvement in its natural gas marketing business, which is the company's largest revenue-generating vertical. Revenue from operations increased by 31.2% year-on-year to reach ₹45,924 crore. The marketing segment's profit before tax jumped more than 2.5 times to ₹3,284.3 crore, while its revenue grew 31% to ₹41,226.04 crore compared to the previous year. Natural gas transmission volumes reached 130.1 million metric standard cubic metres per day during the quarter. For the full 2027 financial year, the company expects average transmission volumes to stay around 126 to 127 million metric standard cubic metres per day. During an analyst call, Director of Finance Satish Kumar Sinha explained that the firm increased spot sourcing to handle supply problems caused by the West Asia crisis. That crisis cut off supplies from the Middle East for over eight months. The company used portfolio flexibility and spot purchases to make up for the lost supplies. GAIL bought 18 spot cargoes in the current quarter, up from eight in the first quarter. International gas prices stayed volatile and high at about $30 to $32 per million British thermal units.
