The Andhra Pradesh cabinet approved an L‑1 bid to carry out electrical, HVAC, fire‑safety, lift, fire‑alarm, public‑address and plumbing work in the Secretariat and department‑head office towers in Amaravati. Separate tenders will be floated for GAD, Tower‑1 and 2, and Tower‑3 and 4. In the same meeting the state approved a 12‑tonne‑per‑day compressed biogas plant for Kaliyambakam village in Chittoor district under the AP Integrated Clean Energy Policy‑2024, authorising IREA Bio Energy to install it. The cabinet also allocated 91.10 acres for a silicon‑crystal and wafer manufacturing unit linked to a planned greenfield steel plant in Vizianagaram district. Super Smellers Ltd received clearance to develop the steel plant on 1,100 acres, with an estimated outlay of about ₹8,570.5 crore. The steel complex is expected to produce roughly two million tonnes of steel annually in two phases and create about 750 direct jobs. All decisions were taken during a Thursday cabinet session chaired by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in Amaravati.
Context
Large‑scale infrastructure projects are a key part of the state’s push to boost industrial output and clean‑energy capacity. The allocations reflect the government’s focus on creating jobs in Vizianagaram while upgrading essential services in the capital.
