Electric Vehicle Drivers Face Charging Fear on Andhra Pradesh Highways
Reported by Aditya Chauhan (Staff Writer) · The Hindu - National ·

Thirty-four-year-old Raju Vegesna and his family felt panic instead of peace while driving their new electric car to Tirupati for a trip. The family turned off the air conditioning during the journey because they feared the car battery would die before they reached their destination. Raju had originally not wanted to take the road trip in the dark about reliable charging points, but he finally agreed after his family kept insisting. He only gave in to the trip after a quick online search showed that nearly twelve electric vehicle charging stations lay along their route.
Context
Many people who buy electric cars worry about running out of battery power on long highway trips because public charging points are still hard to find in many places. Drivers often have to plan their routes very carefully to make sure they can reach a working charger before their battery runs out.
