Actor Yash recently revealed that his young son and daughter experienced their very first theatre screening at the world premiere of Ramayana held on October 27 at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles. The star shares the screen with Sai Pallavi, who portrays Sita in the upcoming project directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios alongside DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations.
Reactions
During a media interaction, Sai Pallavi recalled that Yash's son broke down in tears during a tense sequence where Yash's character, Ravana, destroys the bird Jatayu. The young boy told his father that he disliked seeing him harm a creature, even though he understood it was only make-believe and that his father was merely acting. Yash noted that his children asked numerous questions throughout the screening as they are still learning about life, behavior, and mutual respect.
Character Portrayal
Discussing his preparation for the project, Yash explained that building the persona of Ravana presented a unique hurdle because he needed to convince viewers of the character's unbeatable strength without depending entirely on physical intimidation. Rather than relying on simple arrogance, he chose to shape the ruler of three realms through wit, sarcasm, and occasional vulnerability, conveying power through the eyes and intellect. Sai Pallavi added that this intellectual approach aimed to explore why the character held such beliefs and possessed such immense boons that ultimately required an avatar of Vishnu to stop him, moving beyond a simple black-and-white villain.
Context
Plays such as the epic Ramayana are frequently adapted for the silver screen with massive budgets and star-studded casts involving international technical talent like composer Hans Zimmer. Large-scale theatrical releases often draw immense global interest, with advance ticket sales crossing significant milestones prior to hitting cinemas worldwide on November 5, 2026.
