Market Rebound

Indian stock markets recovered from previous losses as the Nifty 50 rose 2.59 percent and the BSE Sensex gained 1.6 percent over the week. Strong buying in pharmaceutical and IT shares lifted overall market mood ahead of Diwali. On Friday, the Nifty 50 closed 0.51 percent higher at 23,053.10 points, while the BSE Sensex ended up 0.42 percent at 74,459.53 points.

Top Gainers and Laggards

Trent, IndiGo, Infosys, Apollo Hospital, Power Grid, and NTPC led the gains during Friday's trading session. On the other hand, Shriram Finance, Nestle India, M&M, Jio Financial Services, Adani Ports, and Tata Steel finished as the top laggards.

Outlook Ahead

Looking at the first week of November from November 2 to 6, market watchers expect range-bound trading with some ups and downs. Siddhartha Khemka, Head of Research, Wealth Management at Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd., stated that upcoming US midterm elections and US-Iran tensions will keep investors cautious. Pabitro Mukherjee, Deputy Vice President for Research at Bajaj Broking, noted that if the index stays above Friday's low of 22,905, it could move toward 23,150 to 23,200 levels, whereas a drop below 22,900 may lead to consolidation between 22,900 and 22,600. Meanwhile, Brent crude oil prices remained volatile, surging past $117 per barrel on Friday and getting close to a four-year high.

Context

Stock markets often react strongly to global political events, elections, and changes in crude oil prices because these factors directly influence corporate costs and investor confidence. Major domestic indices like the Nifty 50 and Sensex track the performance of top listed companies in the country, serving as key gauges of overall economic health.
