Public demonstrations in the country must always be guided by the national interest, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh national publicity in-charge Sunil Ambekar said on Saturday in Indore.
Meeting Details
Mr. Ambekar made the remarks ahead of a three-day national meeting of the RSS starting on Monday. The gathering is set to bring together 408 functionaries, including RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale. Discussions will focus on organisational changes ahead of an election year, centenary-year programmes, drugs, and plans to expand the Sangh's global outreach following recent foreign visits by Mr. Bhagwat and Mr. Hosabale.
Protests and UGC Rules
Addressing recent student demonstrations, Mr. Ambekar stated that citizens have the right to raise national issues, but warned the public to stay alert against anti-national forces trying to exploit protests. He also addressed the controversy over University Grants Commission regulations, calling the circular imbalanced. He noted that the court has stayed the rules and the government has taken note of public concerns, stressing that a single circular must not disrupt social harmony.
Context
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is a major right-wing cultural and social organisation in India that holds regular high-level meetings to shape its ideological stance and national agenda. Public demonstrations and university policy guidelines often become key points of debate regarding social harmony and national unity in the country.
