Ranvir Shorey clarified on X that defending himself from violence was not “hitting,” replying to Rahul Bhatt’s recent comments about their past breakup. On September 30, 2026, Shorey posted that over two decades of “malicious propaganda” finally gave way to truth and added the missing piece about self‑defence. He wrote, “defending yourself against violence to escape someone toxic is not ‘hitting’!”
What Happened
Rahul Bhatt, speaking with host Siddharth Kannan, admitted he overreacted during the breakup, broke Shorey’s car glass, injured a rib, and was later arrested and charged. He said he regretted taking the law into his own hands and praised Shorey for compounding the offence and getting the FIR quashed.
Reaction
A user replied to Shorey’s post, suggesting he should not have forgiven Rahul. Shorey responded that he forgave Rahul out of respect for Rahul’s father, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, and because of his past relationship with Pooja Bhatt. He called the episode the “biggest scandal” of his life during his stint on Bigg Boss OTT 3.
Context
The dispute stemmed from a two‑ to three‑year relationship between Shorey and Pooja Bhatt, during which she alleged physical violence after alcohol consumption. Shorey denied the claim, blamed Mahesh Bhatt for media smear, and accused Rahul of assault. Both Shorey and Pooja later married other partners—Shorey to actor Konkona Sensharma and Pooja to restaurateur Manish Makhija—each marriage ending in separation.
