Benvenuto Cellini wins Breeders' Cup Turf after Ryan Moore switches mounts

UPDATE - follow-up to Breeders' Cup 2026, day two: horse racing – live: Jockey Ryan Moore made an inspired choice at Keeneland by leaving Diamond Necklace to ride Benvenuto Cellini from an inside draw, steering him to victory in the Breeders' Cup Turf.

Race Results

Benvenuto Cellini came home first in the 14-runner field after starting as a 3-1 favourite on the tote with local punters. Map Of Stars took second place for rider James Doyle and trainer Francis-Henri Graffard, while Diamond Necklace finished third and Tiffany secured fourth.

How It Happened

Ryan Moore worked wonders from the home turn, finding himself on the rail with a wall of horses ahead of him with just a furlong left to race. When he pulled outside, Benvenuto Cellini surged forward and ran down the field with ease.
