UPDATE - follow-up to Polling begins for Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, 92 urban local bodies in Andhra Pradesh | LIVE: Voting for one hundred urban local bodies across Andhra Pradesh got underway on Sunday morning following a rescheduled timeline. The process covers thirteen municipal corporations along with eighty-seven municipalities and Nagar Panchayats, with ballot counting set for November third. Eight specific local bodies saw every single leadership position and ward seat filled without a contest as all candidates secured their places with no opposing contenders. District Collector G. Lakshmisha noted that complete preparations were finished to keep voting running safely in Vijayawada and four NTR district municipalities. Officials including District Election Expenditure Observer B. Vijay Kumar and VMC Commissioner Dhyanachandra H.M. checked distribution setups at Loyola College on Saturday. Palnadu district also reported a calm start to voting across four municipalities, backed by heavy security measures. Voter participation varied across regions, with Chittoor seeing heavy crowds early on while Annamayya recorded moderate numbers and Sri Sathya Sai experienced a slower morning. Vizianagaram began voting peacefully across two hundred twenty-nine stations with clear weather offering relief after the recent Arnab cyclone impact, under the watch of Collector S.Ramsundar Reddy and observer Tej Bharat. The State Election Commission previously moved the polls from October twenty-eighth due to Supreme Court directions following initial nomination violence. Seat arrangements gave the Greater Visakhapatnam mayoral post to the TDP and Vijayawada to the Jana Sena Party.
