Job offers were handed to 1,172 candidates at a private‑sector recruitment fair in Tindivanam on Saturday. The fair took place on the campus of St. Ann's College of Arts and Science and was run by the Villupuram district administration, the District Employment and Career Guidance Centre and the Tamil Nadu State Rural Urban Livelihoods Mission, under District Collector Sheik Abdul Rahman. More than 167 firms met with a pool of 4,214 applicants, conducting interviews on the spot. While many received placements, 163 aspirants were asked to return for a second round of selection. Minister for Social Justice Vanni Arasu used the occasion to outline the district’s hiring drive schedule, noting that small private‑sector camps are set for the third Friday of every month and two larger camps are organised each year. He also highlighted free coaching for competitive exams run through study circles at employment offices. In Villupuram, 1,672 participants have taken part in 20 coaching programmes for exams such as TNPSC, TNUSRB, the Teachers Recruitment Board and the Staff Selection Commission; 164 of them have cleared the tests and secured government posts. Collector Rahman added that five small‑scale camps and one large‑scale camp held since June 2026 have already helped 1,058 job seekers find employment.

Context

These recruitment drives form a key part of the state’s strategy to link local youth with private‑sector opportunities and to reduce unemployment through regular hiring events and free exam preparation support.
