The epic Ravana‑Jatayu battle in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film Ramayana: Rise of a Legend took six and a half years to perfect. The director told Shreyas Media that the sequence moved from the first artist briefing to its final cut over that period, with thousands of crew members contributing. Nearly two years were spent shaping the mythic Pushpak Viman, during which the team explored 40 to 50 design concepts before settling on the final look. Because the aircraft’s design changed dramatically, the fight sequence had to be re‑worked several times. Actor Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Lord Rama, defended the visual‑effects work, saying audiences often dismiss the CGI as AI‑generated despite the manual effort of thousands of artists and days spent perfecting a single frame. The film also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. It is planned as a two‑part saga, with the first part slated for a Diwali 2026 theatrical release and the second part scheduled for 2027, although some Western media have suggested a 2028 release for the sequel.
Context
Large‑scale mythological films in India increasingly rely on extensive VFX pipelines, making production timelines longer than typical commercial movies.
