Protests In Delhi

Union Minister J.P. Nadda on Sunday slammed the Opposition INDIA bloc's rally as a foolish and designed drama, saying it will prove to be the final nail in the coffin of Congress' political downfall. People gathered to take part in the protest rally, named 'Chalo Dilli', at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on November 1. The demonstration was organized to protest against alleged electoral irregularities and to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Riot Claims And Allegations

Mr. Nadda alleged that the protest was part of a well-thought-out conspiracy to surrender democracy to anarchy and disorder. He claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's objective behind organizing the event on Sunday was to rub salt into the wounds of Sikh brothers, in an apparent reference to the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The senior BJP leader also told reporters that the rally aimed to remove the democratically elected government by conspiring to spread riots and anarchy in Delhi, adversely impact the earnings of shopkeepers and traders during the festive season, and defame the country.

Context

Political parties and opposition alliances frequently organize large-scale protests in the national capital to press for institutional demands and policy changes. Major public rallies often become flashpoints for sharp political exchanges between the ruling party and opposition groups, particularly over historical events and governance issues.
