Contestant's Confession

Contestant Almas Khan appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepati 18 during the September 30 episode's India Challenger Week. The Jaipur-based single mother and tiffin service operator shared a childhood memory with host Amitabh Bachchan. She recalled going to Jaipur's Raj Mandir theatre with her cousins to watch his 1997 action drama Mrityudaata. Almas admitted that the theatre's air-conditioning and comfort made her fall asleep, waking up only when the movie had ended and a song was playing.

The Actor's Witty Reply

When Almas told the megastar that Mrityudaata remained the first of his films she remembered seeing in a theatre, Bachchan looked disappointed and offered a quick, witty response. He jokingly asked her how she managed to watch the movie while sleeping and what she actually saw since the film had already ended. Almas eventually exited the show with Rs 5 lakh after missing the Rs 12.5 lakh question.

Movie Background

Directed by Mehul Kumar, Mrityudaata featured Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role as Dr Ram Prasad, marking his return to the big screen after a five-year acting break. The cast also included Dimple Kapadia, Karisma Kapoor, Arbaaz Ali Khan, and Paresh Rawal in key roles. Despite high anticipation, the film received mostly negative reviews and failed to perform well at the box office.

Context

Kaun Banega Crorepati 18 airs from Monday to Friday on Sony Entertainment Television and SonyLIV. Reality quiz shows often feature lighthearted banter between hosts and contestants to add entertainment value alongside the trivia competition.
