Honda Cars India sold 8,082 vehicles in total during October 2026, which includes 7,609 cars sold in the domestic market and 473 units sent abroad for export. Domestic sales went up by 19 percent compared to the same month last year, when the company sold 6,394 vehicles. The growth was even sharper when compared to September 2026, jumping by 70.41 percent from 4,465 units.

Performance Factors

Domestic sales made up 94.15 percent of all vehicles sold by Honda in October, while exports brought in the remaining 5.85 percent. Kunal Behl, who serves as Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Honda Cars India, stated that strong festive demand and positive customer feelings across the lineup helped drive the October results. He specifically pointed to the new Elevate, which features updated styling, new features, and an SUV design, as a main driver of the sales momentum.

Export Decline

At the same time, overseas shipments dropped sharply to 473 units from 4,124 units in October 2025, marking an 88.53 percent decline. Exports also fell compared to September 2026, when the company shipped 2,490 vehicles. Because of this large drop in exports, total combined sales fell by 23.16 percent year-on-year from 10,518 units. However, the strong domestic increase meant that total volumes still grew by 16.20 percent month-on-month compared to September.

Context

Car manufacturers in India often see higher sales during festival periods due to traditional buying habits. Companies regularly balance local demand against global export orders depending on factory schedules and international market needs. Honda plans to reveal its first made-in-India electric SUV based on the 0 Alpha on December 2, 2026, to expand its options in the local market.
