Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company has sent a team of 115 people to Andhra Pradesh to help fix power lines damaged by Cyclone Arnab. The team includes 15 officers and 100 staff members.
Operations
The team traveled to the neighboring State on Monday following orders from the D.K. Shivakumar government. GESCOM Chairman Praveen Patil Harawal is leading the entire operation. Workers have taken a crane-mounted lorry, a tractor-mounted drilling machine, and other necessary repair tools with them. They will fix broken electricity poles, lines, and other damaged power infrastructure.
Context
Power supply systems often suffer heavy damage during severe tropical cyclones due to high-wind speeds knocking down poles and lines. Utility companies from unaffected regions frequently send technical teams and equipment to assist local crews in speeding up recovery efforts. GESCOM has previously provided similar help to Odisha during past natural disasters.
