The first cohort of the ANUGYAN Nuclear Technology Orientation Programme completed its three‑month residential course on Monday at the Kandi campus of the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad, Sangareddy district. Twenty‑three engineers and industry professionals received their certificates after intensive study of reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, radiation shielding, small modular reactors, nuclear safety, quality assurance and the regulatory framework governing nuclear power. The programme is a joint effort by IIT Hyderabad and Crimson Energy Experts Pvt. Ltd., designed to create a skilled talent pool for the nation’s growing nuclear energy sector. The closing ceremony was attended by Ghanshyam Prasad, chair of the Central Electricity Authority, and B. S. Murty, director of IIT Hyderabad. Prasad emphasized that nuclear power will be crucial for achieving India’s clean‑energy targets by 2047 and that collaborations like ANUGYAN, which link academia with industry, are essential to build the required expertise. Murty also highlighted the institute’s commitment to supporting emerging energy technologies. The graduates are now poised to contribute to projects involving small modular reactors and other advanced nuclear systems across the country.
