Police in Hyderabad have arrested three men for stabbing a woman in her flat and stealing her phone during a robbery on October 27. The attack took place at Pochammabasti in Gaddiannaram when the main suspect entered the home on a false excuse, stabbed the victim with a knife, and escaped with her OnePlus mobile phone. The injured woman was taken to Yashoda Hospital in Malakpet for medical care.
Arrests and Seizures
Officers caught the suspects on Monday during vehicle checks at Gaddiannaram Crossroads with help from the Hyderabad Commissioner's Task Force. The three arrested men are 27-year-old auto driver Kesari Manikanta, 28-year-old auto driver Narapogu Vamshi Krishna, and 28-year-old garment store salesman Ajay Kumar. Police state that the two other suspects were involved in receiving and selling stolen property. Authorities recovered 23 mobile phones, three motorcycles, and the steel knife allegedly used in the crime.
Criminal History
Investigators checked CCTV footage, spoke with witnesses, and reviewed other evidence to track down the suspects. Police revealed that the men are linked to multiple property crimes across Hyderabad and other districts in Telangana. The primary accused has a history of around 59 criminal cases, while Vamshi Krishna has approximately 39 registered cases against him.
Context
Incidents of street crime and home burglaries often prompt urban police forces to increase vehicle checks and rely on surveillance footage to track repeat offenders. Recovering stolen goods helps law enforcement connect suspects to a wider network of property crimes across different areas.
