Reliance Foundation has announced a massive 100-acre township named 'Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Ashray' in Karjat near Mumbai. The project aims to provide lifelong shelter to over 5,000 people, including orphaned children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities. Founder-chairperson Nita Ambani performed the groundbreaking ceremony on Sunday, which marked her birthday, alongside Mukesh Ambani and other family members. Developed in phases as a non-profit initiative, the center will feature homes, medical facilities, schools, and rehabilitation units, alongside spaces for education, employment, and recreation. Nita Ambani stated that the goal is to offer a loving home, medical care, and a family atmosphere to those in need. The project is expected to benefit around 15,000 people in total, encompassing residents, caregivers, medical professionals, support staff, and their families. The campus will house eight residential villages named after sacred Indian rivers, featuring small family-style homes supported by house parents and caregivers. Specialized medical infrastructure includes a special hospital and a rehabilitation center providing care for epilepsy, growth disorders, and dental needs, alongside physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. The facility will also host art centers, special education, a school for staff children, a temple, parks, and vocational training workshops ranging from bakeries to handicrafts. Additionally, according to TV9 Telugu, social media has also seen recent viral discussions regarding unrelated luxury items linked to high-profile figures, though this welfare initiative stands firmly grounded in social service.

Context

Large-scale philanthropic foundations often fund specialized long-term care facilities to support vulnerable populations like orphans and the elderly. Karjat serves as an accessible semi-rural location near Mumbai for establishing expansive community projects. Such developments combine residential care with local employment generation and healthcare access for surrounding rural areas.
