Himachal Pradesh is set to experience clear and dry weather with no rain or snow expected across any district until November nine, providing relief from the cold for the next six days. Daytime will feel slightly warm in the plains while hill areas will enjoy pleasant conditions, keeping the maximum temperature slightly above normal and leaving the minimum temperature mostly unchanged.

Record Heat in Una

Una broke a twenty-five-year-old record after its maximum temperature reached 34.2 degrees Celsius, marking the highest temperature ever recorded in the month of November. The previous highest November temperature in Una was 33.1 degrees, recorded on November 17 in the year 2000. Jagran reports that Una recorded 32.4 degrees Celsius as its maximum temperature, remaining the highest in the state. Across the state, twelve cities are currently recording maximum temperatures of 25 degrees or higher, with the overall average maximum temperature running two degrees above normal. Meanwhile, tribal Kukumseri recorded the lowest minimum temperature dropping to minus 1.3 degrees Celsius, and Shimla recorded a maximum of 21.7 degrees and a minimum of 11 degrees.

Snowfall and Rainfall

Fresh snowfall occurred on Monday at the Rohtang Pass, Baralacha, Shinkula, and the hills of Manali, delighting tourists and increasing the cold in Lahaul and Manali. Sundernagar experienced moderate fog on Monday morning with visibility dropping to 200 meters before bright sunshine cleared the skies. Despite the current dry spell, the state has recorded 11 percent more rain than normal this winter season. Between October 1 and November 11, the state received 29.3 millimeters of rain against the normal 26.5 millimeters. Kangda saw 109 percent more rain than normal, Bilaspur recorded 49 percent, Solan 46 percent, Hamirpur 30 percent, Una 27 percent, and Lahaul-Spiti 12 percent more rain. On the other hand, six districts recorded less rain than normal, including Chamba with a 9 percent deficit, Kinnaur with 13 percent, Kullu with 4 percent, Mandi with 12 percent, Shimla with 14 percent, and Sirmaur with 39 percent less rainfall.

Context

Himachal Pradesh often experiences early winter weather shifts in November, bringing sharp contrasts between warm daytime conditions in lower plains and freezing temperatures in high-altitude tribal pockets.
