Police set to sell 244 abandoned bikes in public auction
Reported by Deepak Mishra (Copy Editor) · The Hindu - National ·

The Future City Police Commissionerate will put 244 abandoned vehicles up for public sale after storing them at the Moinabad station grounds. Owners now have half a year to present proper papers and claim their property before the sale goes ahead. The lot includes eighty Hero Passion Plus motorcycles, forty-seven Hero Glamour bikes, and thirty--seven Hero Splendor units. Authorities also listed fifty-eight Bajaj Pulsar models, eighteen Honda Shine bikes, and four Royal Enfield motorcycles among the total count. The disposal will happen through an open or digital bidding process based on the Future City Police Act and the Hyderabad City Police Act. People who own these machines or hold valid loan rights must file formal requests with the local Police Commissioner. They need to bring proof of ownership and supporting papers within the six-month window. The full inventory is already online on the state police web portal for public checking.
Context
Police forces routinely clear out long-stark vehicles from station compounds to free up cramped space and prevent property damage. Legal rules require them to give a proper grace period so rightful owners get a fair chance to step forward before any government sale takes place.
