Startup Growth

A Bengaluru founder turned a pandemic-era lockdown into a business opportunity by launching an e-commerce platform called Something's Brewing in the year 2020. The enterprise reached fifteen crore rupees in revenue for the financial year 2025-26 and targets twenty-two to twenty-five crore rupees for the current year.

Overcoming Hurdles

When cafe closures shifted coffee demand toward households, the founder noticed that local buyers struggled to find global brewing tools and espresso gear. Operating during the health crisis brought heavy supply chain problems for importing goods, while steep price tags ranging from fifty thousand to two lakh rupees kept early buyers away.

Strategic Changes

To build buyer trust without relying on big digital marketplaces, the firm used video calls to demonstrate how the machines operated before purchase. Roughly a year after launch, the team introduced an in-house label named Budan with items starting near fifteen thousand rupees to target budget-friendly shoppers.

Context

Speciality coffee consumption and home brewing have grown steadily across urban Indian households over recent years. Entrepreneurs often tap into niche consumer segments by spotting shifts in lifestyle habits and building direct-to-consumer digital storefronts.
