Reported by Abhishek Tiwari (Copy Editor) · The Hindu - Business ·

Alembic Pharmaceuticals posted a more than 81 percent year-on-year surge in consolidated net profit to 335 crore rupees for the quarter ending in September. Revenue from operations jumped 36 percent to 2,603 crore rupees during the same period.
Market Response
Company shares drew strong interest on Wednesday. The stock touched a 20 percent intra-day high before closing nearly 13 percent higher at 907 rupees and 20 paisa each on the BSE.
Growth Drivers
Managing Director Pranav Amin stated that strong volume growth and new product launches boosted the United States business. The firm also expanded its partnership with DifGen Pharmaceuticals to focus more on the American market. This expanded tie-up brings new commercial chances and local manufacturing access in the U.S., while building on an existing joint venture in Canada. DifGen will handle product development, regulatory work, manufacturing, and supply. Alembic will make selected products and sell the portfolio in the U.S., adding specialized items like transdermal systems and complex injectables.
Context
Drugmakers often form partnerships to share the high costs and complex regulatory hurdles of launching specialized medicines in foreign markets like the United States. Strong quarterly earnings and major international deals frequently trigger sharp movements in pharmaceutical stock prices on Indian stock exchanges.
