The new two-part film Ramayana arrived in theatres on Thursday and drew praise from viewers and filmmakers like Karan Johar and SS Rajamouli. In the epic movie, Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, Yash plays Ravana, Sai Pallavi plays Sita, Sunny Deol plays Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey plays Lakshman. The large cast also features Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal, and Vivek Oberoi. Nitesh Tiwari directed the project, which was built on a massive budget of four thousand crore rupees.
Behind The Scenes
While speaking to the press, co-star Ajinkya Deo shared details about the difficult costumes used during production. Ajinkya plays Maharishi Vishwamitra and noted that his role required him to stay bare-bodied as a sadhu. However, he spent an hour and a half daily putting on heavy fake hair and a beard. He also mentioned that the heavy crowns and full outfits proved very tiring for other actors, especially Ranbir, who often reacted with exhaustion after wearing the complete royal look.
Cast Reactions
Actor Alia Bhatt posted pictures from the set after the release, showing behind-the-scenes moments with Ranbir and their daughter Raha. She praised Ranbir for his hard work on the film and his dedication to their family. Other prominent figures in the industry have also shared positive notes about the release.
Context
Big-budget historical and mythological films in Indian cinema often require actors to wear heavy traditional outfits and ornaments for long hours during production. Controlled indoor sets help manage physical exhaustion caused by heavy costumes and extreme makeup under studio lights. Large ensemble projects of this scale usually involve extended production schedules and detailed physical preparations for the main cast.
