Mercedes has launched the new Maybach S-Class in India with a price tag of Rs 3.35 crore. This luxury model costs Rs 1.15 crore more than the standard S-Class facelift that arrived a few months ago.

Exterior Design

The Maybach version features a uniform exterior look with a unique front grille showing fine vertical chrome slats and top lettering. The front bumper uses a fine mesh pattern filled with small Maybach logos, thicker chrome trim, and LED headlights with rose-gold accents while keeping the bonnet star. From the side, it features 20-inch multi-spoke forged rims with self-centring wheel caps, noise-absorbing tyres, and longer rear doors. The wheelbase is 180mm longer than the standard car, and an illuminated badge sits on the C-pillar. The back of the car includes Maybach lettering on the bootlid and dedicated dual-tone paint options.

Cabin And Features

Inside, the cabin keeps the multi-screen layout with a 14.4-inch OLED central screen, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, and a 12.3-inch front passenger display running MB.OS with custom graphics. The rear section comes standard with an executive package creating a four-seat layout. Rear passengers get a 43-degree recline angle, temperature-controlled cup holders, and dual wireless phone chargers.

Engine And Performance

Both cars use a plug-in hybrid setup pairing a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine with an electric motor and a 22kWh battery pack. The Maybach S 580e delivers 585hp and 750Nm of torque through a 9-speed automatic gearbox and standard all-wheel drive, beating the regular S 450e's 435hp and 680Nm. The regular model offers up to 115km of pure-electric range, while the Maybach achieves 100km. However, the Maybach reaches a higher claimed combined efficiency of 34.48kpl compared to 32.3kpl, and adds a special Maybach drive mode.

Context

Automakers often create ultra-luxury variants of standard flagship cars to cater to high-net-worth buyers who want bespoke comfort and exclusivity. These models typically focus on rear-seat passenger experience, offering advanced amenities and superior materials over standard luxury trims.
