The TVS Racing International Championship held a racing weekend on a European track for the very first time. The Misano World Circuit in Italy hosted the fourth and second-last round of the season alongside the Coppa Italia weekend.
The Races
A total of 14 riders took part in two races of seven laps each, sharing the track with other events like superbike races and Yamaha R7 and Aprilia RS 457 one-make championships. Three of the riders were from India. Italian rider Cristian Borrelli claimed first place in both races. Sarthak Chavan was the top Indian performer, finishing seventh in the first race and sixth in the second race after starting both races from the back due to a qualifying crash. In the second race, the gap between Borrelli and Chavan was just 1.973 seconds. The other two Indian riders, Chiranth Vishwanath and Rakshith Srihari Dave, finished tenth and eleventh in the first race, and eighth and twelfth in the second race.
Standings and Background
Following Round 3 in Motegi, Japan, Malaysian rider Mohd Ramdan Rosli leads the ARRC standings with 101 points. Sarthak Chavan holds second place with 80 points, followed by Luis Miguel and Oratilwe Phiri with 54 points each, and Chiranth Vishwanath in fifth with 49 points. Vishwanath won the first race in Round 3 by a narrow 0.014-second lead. TVS has operated a factory racing programme since 1982, beginning with the TVS 50 moped. Recent milestones include joining the Asia Road Racing Championship in 2020 and partnering with Petronas in 2022 to form the one-make championship now known as the TVS Racing International Championship.
Context
Motorsport championships frequently partner with major racing weekends like the Coppa Italia to share facilities and reach wider motorsport fans. The final round of the season will take place in Buriram, Thailand, alongside the ARRC, and TVS Racing plans to race outside Asia again next year.
