Skoda Auto India has launched the updated Slavia sedan with prices starting at Rs 9,99,900 and going up to Rs 18.84 lakh, ex-showroom. This is the first mid-lifecycle update for the midsize sedan since its market introduction in 2022. The car takes on rivals such as the Volkswagen Virtus, Honda City and Hyundai Verna. While the starting price matches the outgoing model, the top-end variant costs Rs 64,000 more than before according to Autocar India. Unveiled in August, the refreshed sedan features exterior updates, cabin additions and a new automatic transmission option.
Trims and Deliveries
The lineup includes six trims: Classic, Classic+, Signature, Sportline, Prestige and Monte Carlo. Customer deliveries are set to begin next week, while the new Cappuccino Beige colour will reach buyers starting from December 2026. The entry-level Classic version comes exclusively with a 1.0 TSI manual setup. Automatic options begin with the Classic+ at Rs 12.49 lakh. The larger 1.5 TSI engine is paired with a DSG automatic and is restricted to the Prestige and Monte Carlo trims. The Monte Carlo version is an automatic-only offering starting at Rs 17.29 lakh, while the Prestige DSG is priced at Rs 18.59 lakh.
Powertrain Updates
The main mechanical update is an eight-speed torque converter automatic gearbox paired with the 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine, which Skoda calls a segment-first offering. A six-speed manual remains available for this engine. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre TSI engine continues to use a seven-speed DSG automatic and now adds rear disc brakes. Both engines retain their power outputs of 115hp for the 1.0-litre and 150hp for the 1.5-litre unit. The car is built on the MQB-A0-IN platform developed for Indian conditions.
Design and Cabin Features
Exterior styling updates include revised LED headlamps with segmented DRLs, a segmented horizontal chrome strip on the grille, new LED foglamp units, updated LED tail lamps with sequential turn indicators, and new 16-inch alloy wheel designs. Two new colours, Arctic Silver and Cappuccino Beige, join options like Candy White, Carbon Steel, Brilliant Silver, Lava Blue, Deep Black, Cherry Red, Shimla Green and Steel Grey. Inside, the Prestige and Monte Carlo trims feature a segment-first rear seat massage function, electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 360-degree camera. Lower trims offer features such as an eight-inch digital cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a Google Cloud-powered AI voice assistant using Gemini. Skoda also added a new variable-geometry compressor to improve air conditioner performance.
Safety and Warranty
Six airbags and over 25 safety features are standard across all variants, alongside the car's existing five-star Global NCAP rating for adult and child occupant protection. The standard Super Care package includes a four-year or 1,00,000 km warranty, four years of roadside assistance, and four labour-free services within two years or 30,000 km. Extended warranty options go up to six years, alongside a six-year corrosion warranty and a three-year paint warranty.
Context
Midsize sedans face intense competition from popular sport utility vehicles in the Indian car market, prompting manufacturers to regularly refresh their sedan line-ups with advanced technology and comfort features to attract buyers. The inclusion of new connectivity tools and localized platforms helps global automakers tailor their vehicles to local consumer preferences.
