Weather Alert
India Meteorological Department has issued widespread rainfall and thunderstorm alerts across multiple states over the coming days. In southern India, heavy rain is expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe between November six and ten, alongside coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. Thunderstorms, lightning, and strong surface winds will also affect these regions, including Lakshadweep, coastal Karnataka, and Telangana.
Regional Forecasts
Northern states will experience wet weather later in the week, with light rain expected in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on November ten, spreading to Himachal Pradesh from November ten to twelve, and Uttarakhand on November eight and nine. Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab will receive scattered rainfall on November eleven and twelve, while Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh face thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy downpours by November twelve. In eastern India, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, and Odisha will see varying spells of rain and gusty winds. Northeast India will also witness wet spells in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura through November twelve.
Context
Shifting weather patterns during this time of year often result from western disturbances moving across the northern mountains or lingering cyclonic systems over southern coastal waters. These atmospheric changes frequently bring sudden spells of rain, drops in temperature, and gusty winds across different parts of the country.
