Karnataka Lokayukta tells officials to fix administration and stop corruption
Reported by Faizan Khan (Staff Writer) · The Hindu - National ·
Karnataka Lokayukta B.S. Patil told government officers to improve their working style, solve problems, and make sure welfare schemes reach the right people. Chairing a meeting in Koppal on Friday, Mr. Patil said the government spends a lot of money on public schemes, and officials must deliver these funds honestly. He warned staff against corruption, stating that greedy officers will face strict action without any mercy. A people-friendly approach at the district level helps the whole State grow, he noted, adding that people should not have to visit offices again and again for the same work.
Context
The Lokayukta is an anti-corruption ombudsman agency in Indian states that investigates complaints against public servants and looks into administrative corruption or delays. Such periodic district-level meetings help senior oversight authorities review how well local welfare schemes and government offices are actually functioning on the ground.
