Police linked seven murders in Bengaluru to cab driver‑turned‑YouTuber Indushekhar after a missing‑person complaint sparked the investigation.

What Happened

The killings allegedly occurred between Oct 16 and Oct 31, with the last two bodies found on Nov 1 or 2. The first victims were Sunita, Indushekhar’s wife of 20 years, and her mother Roopavathi. He then invited Sunita’s younger brother Shivakumar, Shivakumar’s wife Divya and their seven‑year‑old son Puneeth to a dinner and killed them. On Oct 30 he allegedly lured another brother, Shankar, and Shankar’s wife Nalini and murdered them. Nalini’s mother Tungamma reported her daughter missing on Nov 3 after the phone was switched off and the house in Srirampura was locked. Tungamma checked Indushekhar’s house, found it locked, and filed a missing‑person complaint with Srirampura police. Neighbour Karthik said police visited the house on Nov 3 and again on Nov 4 to question residents. Senior officers began tracking Indushekhar, used technical inputs to locate his movement and finally intercepted his car in the city.

Reaction

Nalini’s family claimed the police delayed registering their complaint filed on Nov 1, but Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh denied any lapse and warned that action would be taken if negligence is found. Officers said they have seized a suspected grinder stone but will confirm the exact cause of death once the bodies are examined.

Context

In India, a missing‑person report often triggers a homicide probe, especially when relatives notice locked homes and silent phones. A grinder stone can be used as a blunt instrument, but forensic tests are needed to verify its role in a killing.
