Eight children from an anganwadi in Masabinal village, Vijayapura district, were hospitalized on Friday after a suspected food‑poisoning episode. The children complained of vomiting and diarrhoea shortly after eating the midday meal served at the centre. They were first taken to the Primary Health Centre in Masabinal and later shifted to the district hospital for further treatment. Doctors at the district hospital confirmed that all eight patients are now out of danger. Officials from the Department of Women and Child Welfare reached the village to inspect the site and speak with caregivers. Deputy Commissioner K. Ananda has ordered a formal inquiry into the cause of the illness and the handling of food at the anganwadi. The inquiry will look into the cooking process, storage of ingredients and any lapses in hygiene standards. No additional children have reported similar symptoms as of the latest update. The incident was reported on November 6, 2026, at 10:52 p.m. IST, with the story filed from Belagavi.
