Fifty-four academics from government and private universities received awards earlier this month during the third Careers360 Faculty Research Awards held in New Delhi as part of the India Research and Impact Summit 2026.

Award Details

The winners cover twenty-seven different study areas. In twenty-six fields, one winner came from a public college and one from a private college, while both winners in a single field belonged to public institutions. Selection relied on published papers, citation counts, and H-index ratings found in academic databases. Honored individuals come from schools including the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, Indian Institute of Management Mumbai, All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, University of Hyderabad, Indian Council of Agricultural Research bodies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Symbiosis International, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. Winning subjects include agriculture, arts, chemistry, computer science, economics, engineering, science, medicine, neuroscience, physics, psychology, social sciences, and veterinary studies.

Summit Discussions

The event also hosted talks on problems facing Indian research, looking at whether money, teachers, rules, or rewards slow down academic work, along with difficulties in forming ties between industries and universities. Other meetings talked about measuring how studies affect government policy, commerce, and society, whether schools value research results over actual impact, and how fair ranking criteria are for university lists. The gathering heard a main speech from NITI Aayog member and former Department of Science and Technology secretary Prof Abhay Karandikar, alongside an impact speech by Lok Sabha Member of Parliament and GITAM Deemed-to-be University president Sribharat Mathukumilli.

Context

Academic awards and summits help spotlight high-performing scholars across diverse institutions in the country. Such gatherings bring together leaders from education, government, and industry to discuss policies that shape the future of science and learning.
