Launch
AVMLabs opened its first Indian laboratory in New Siddhapudur, Coimbatore, kicking off a plan to launch 25 labs across the country. The facility, named AVM Bhavan, also hosts experience centres for AVMSmiles and AVMDiabetes under the “AVM 2.0” programme.
Expansion
AVMSmiles currently runs more than 180 clinics, five of which are in Coimbatore, and aims to grow to 5,000 clinics nationwide. AVMDiabetes targets the same number of outlets across 5,000 taluks, with each outlet serving as a collection point for AVMLabs tests. The three businesses will operate through a franchise model that emphasizes high test volumes, a narrow menu of diagnostics, and centralized processing to keep prices low.
Impact
AVMLabs already runs operations in five Gulf locations. A central reference laboratory is planned for Bengaluru, and a Global Capability Centre is proposed in Coimbatore to serve international markets. Founder A. Velumani said the expansion could generate about 10,000 jobs in Tamil Nadu.
Context
Large‑scale franchise networks are a common way for Indian health‑care firms to reach rural and semi‑urban populations while controlling costs. Centralised labs allow economies of scale, which help lower the price of common diagnostic tests.
