Volkswagen has pulled the Tiguan R-Line from its official website in India, pointing to its exit from the market. The company brought this five-seater premium mid-size SUV to India in April 2025 as a fully imported model. Its last listed price was Rs 47.11 lakh.

Technical Details

The discontinued SUV used a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine paired with a seven-speed DSG gearbox. This motor made 201 bhp of power and 320 Nm of torque. Volkswagen also kept its four-wheel-drive system as a standard feature on this model.

Alternatives

Buyers wanting a premium mid-size SUV from the brand can now pick the Tayron instead. The larger Tayron R-Line sells for Rs 47.74 lakh and comes with three rows of seats. Unlike the imported Tiguan, the Tayron arrives as a kit and gets assembled at the company plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Context

Car makers often update their vehicle lineups by replacing imported models with locally assembled options to manage costs and supply chains better. Volkswagen now has just two SUV choices left in the country with the Taigun and the Tayron.
