Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Ramayana Part 1 has crossed the Rs 375 crore mark in worldwide earnings, driven by strong collections over the Diwali weekend. The film collected Rs 69.80 crore on Saturday across 23,696 shows in India, following a day 2 collection of Rs 48.05 crore. ## Box Office Performance Ramayana recorded an overall occupancy of 41.3 percent in India and has surpassed the Rs 200 crore mark in domestic earnings. The Hindi version leads the box office collections, followed by the Kannada release, benefiting from the star power of Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, who plays Ravana. However, the film faces a challenge to recover its reported massive budget of Rs 4,000 crore invested by producer and DNEG visual effects head Namit Malhotra. The second part of the epic is now reportedly pushed to 2028.
Competition And Tamil Release
Meanwhile, the Tamil film Scene, starring Suriya as a cop named Inbaraaj, has collected Rs 20.25 crore on its second day, taking its total to Rs 39.40 crore. Directed by Jithu Madhavan, the film features Nazriya Nazim and Naslen, and is produced by 2D Entertainment and Zhagaram Studios. Scene is dominating its home turf while the dubbed version of Ramayana has barely made an impact.
Context
Diwali is one of the peak movie-going periods in India, traditionally driving high box office numbers and occupancy rates for major theatrical releases. Trade analysts closely watch the transition from festival holidays to regular weekdays to determine a film's long-term commercial success.
