Stunt performer Luke Ioannou has shared unseen behind-the-scenes pictures from the sets of Nitesh Tiwari's upcoming film Ramayana, revealing that he worked as a body double for lead actor Ranbir Kapoor. Luke posted the images on Instagram along with a note about his experience of helping bring the epic story to the big screen. He called the project an unforgettable journey and praised Ranbir as one of the best actors he has ever worked with.
Behind The Scenes
Luke also thanked Ian Van Temperley and the G Stunt Alliance Group for the opportunity, while expressing gratitude to the rest of the cast and crew. The newly shared photographs offer a look at the film's large-scale production setup. One image features a performer in a traditional golden-brown outfit with rudraksha beads and a topknot next to Ranbir. Other photos show detailed costumes with leather chest pieces, maroon dhotis, and artificial rocky backdrops. The action setup includes a performer standing on a mechanical rig built to look like a mythical creature, supported by wires against a blue screen, alongside massive camera rigs for filming complex sequences. Luke has previously worked on major international projects such as Wonder Woman, No Time to Die, The Batman, and House of the Dragon.
Cast And Crew
Ramayana is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra. The movie features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The star-studded cast also includes Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal, Indira Krishnan, and Kunal Kapoor. Makers have confirmed that the sequel to the film will release in the year 2028 instead of 2027.
Context
Stunt doubles play a crucial role in modern action filmmaking by performing high-risk physical sequences and dangerous stunts in place of lead actors. Large-scale fantasy and mythological movies rely heavily on mechanical rigs, blue screens, and international stunt coordinators to shoot elaborate battle scenes safely.
