Actor Sunny Deol recently shared his excitement on Instagram after watching the first part of the upcoming epic film adaptation of the Ramayana. Even though he only makes a brief appearance as Hanuman at the end of the movie, he urged every Indian to watch the film and claimed it is even better than Hollywood productions. He praised the visual effects created by Namit Malhotra's company DNEG for taking viewers straight back to the ancient era. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and co-written by him along with Shridhar Raghavan, Ramayana Part 1 hit theaters this past Friday just three days before Diwali. The first installment stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, and Yash as the main villain Ravana, with music composed by AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer. The film is built on a massive budget of four thousand crore rupees and has already collected over three hundred seventy-five crore rupees worldwide in its first three days.

Cast And Action

The cast also features Arun Govil as Dasharatha, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Vivek Oberoi as Vidyuthjiva, Rakul Preet Singh as Shurpanakha, and Shobana as Kaikesi, with Anupam Kher providing the voice of Jatayu. While Sunny Deol's character only appears in a short cameo leaping from a mountain cliff during the end credits, he will play a much bigger role in the second part, which is scheduled to hit theaters across the world in 2028. Meanwhile, the makers may also turn the project into a trilogy depending on how the audience responds.

Legal Warnings

Following the release, the official team behind the film issued a strict warning on social media after clips showing character cameos were illegally recorded and shared online. Citing orders from the Bombay High Court issued on November 2 and November 6, the makers reminded the public that recording or sharing movie clips is a crime punishable by jail time and fines under several laws including the Copyright Act and the BNS. The film is co-produced by DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations, with overseas distribution handled by Sony Pictures International and North Indian distribution managed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.

Context

High-budget film adaptations of traditional epics often attract massive box office attention in India while also facing immediate challenges from online piracy during their opening weekend. Major studios routinely rely on strict court orders and public warnings to protect intellectual property rights and curb unauthorized video leaks on social media platforms.
