Reported by Manish Reddy (Senior Writer) · Livemint - Markets ·
Shares of Zee Entertainment Enterprises rose as much as 11.1 percent to reach seventy rupees during the special Muhurat trading session on Sunday, November 8. The stock movement followed an exchange filing made on November 6 stating that the board of directors will hold a meeting on November 12. This meeting will address investor worries and examine options such as a share buyback or an interim dividend to improve shareholder value after recent price drops.
Financial Results
The company recently posted a 40 percent year-on-year drop in net profit to forty-five point six crore rupees for the September quarter. This marks the second quarter in a row with a profit decline due to flat ad revenue and lower sales. Operating revenue grew 13 percent year-on-year to two thousand two hundred twenty-four point six crore rupees, led by subscription growth. Chief Executive Officer Punit Goenka noted that Zee5 doubled its revenue and grew subscription income by 30 percent year-on-year.

Trading windows are routinely closed ahead of such key meetings to prevent insider trading. Zee Entertainment operates in the media and entertainment sector with digital streaming platforms.
