Tata Teleservices Maharashtra shares jumped over 6 percent during Muhurat Trading on Sunday, 8 November, pushing their four-day winning streak past 23 percent. The gains came even as the telecom operator disclosed a ₹25,000 regulatory penalty from the Department of Telecommunications. The DoT penalised the company on 6 November for alleged violations of Unified License Agreement provisions regarding subscriber verification and bulk user premises inspection protocols. The financial impact is limited to the ₹25,000 fine, according to the company's exchange filing.

Financials And Share Movement

For the July-September quarter of FY27, the company reported a net loss of ₹59 crore, narrowing from a loss of ₹321 crore in the same period last year and ₹72 crore in the first quarter. Revenue from operations rose 8.4 percent year-on-year to ₹310 crore, up from ₹286 crore. EBITDA increased to ₹165 crore compared to ₹140 crore a year earlier. During the trading session, the stock opened at ₹39.77 on the BSE, hitting an intraday high of ₹42.29 and a low of ₹39.62.

Analyst Views

Ruchit Jain, Head of Equity Technical Research at Motilal Oswal Financial Services, advised that investors should watch for a sustained recovery above the 200-day exponential moving average of ₹43. Gaurav Arora, Head of Research at SAHI, noted that the stock fell from around ₹54 in November 2025 to ₹32 in October 2026 before seeing two sharp rallies. Arora warned that the company has a negative net worth, making the stock a sentiment-driven bet rather than one backed by strong earnings fundamentals.

Context

Muhurat Trading is a special one-hour trading session held across Indian stock exchanges on Diwali to mark the beginning of the Hindu calendar year Samvat, traditionally seen as an auspicious time for investments. Regulatory penalties under the Unified License Agreement typically relate to administrative compliance rather than major operational disruptions, while quarterly financial results offer a regular snapshot of a company's revenue and loss trends over three-month periods.
