Box Office Milestone
Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana has crossed the 200 crore rupee mark at the domestic box office within four days of release. The film collected 32 crore rupees net in India by five PM on Sunday, taking its total domestic haul to 215 crore rupees. This performance comes after an opening day that brought in 64.85 crore rupees, followed by 48 crore rupees on Friday and nearly 70 crore rupees on Saturday.
Language Performance
The earnings have been driven largely by the Hindi version. The Kannada version has started slowly with 7.50 crore rupees on day one despite Yash playing Ravana. The Telugu version has performed well, while Malayalam and Tamil versions have seen lower numbers.
Comparison And Cast
Ramayana beat the opening day figures of Pathaan, Animal, and Drishyam 2, though it fell short of Adipurush initially. However, it managed to surpass the four-day numbers of the Prabhas-starrer. The movie is produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios, DNEG, and Yash's Monster Mind Creations. It stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
Context
Diwali releases often experience unique box office patterns because holiday festivities can lower daytime footfalls in parts of the country before picking up later. Major epics require high ticket sales across all regional versions to sustain their massive production budgets.
