AutomobileJSW Motors to Launch Combat Plug‑in Hybrid SUV on Dec 3

JSW Motors will unveil the Combat SUV on December 3, marking its debut as a standalone brand in India's automotive market. The five‑seat plug‑in hybrid SUV is based on the Chinese‑made Jetour T2 and will be assembled at the company's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant, formerly known as Aurangabad. The India‑spec model is expected to use a 1.5‑litre direct‑injection turbo‑petrol engine paired with an 18.4 kWh battery and two front‑mounted electric motors, all routed through a three‑speed dedicated hybrid transmission. Together the system delivers 360 horsepower and 610 Nm of torque. Under the NEDC test cycle the vehicle claims a pure‑electric range of 90 km, while a full tank and battery combination gives a total range of up to 1,100 km. Visually, the Combat retains the boxy silhouette of the Jetour T2 but features slightly revised headlights and front and rear bumpers, and a new 'Combat' badge replaces the Jetour logo. It will keep 20‑inch alloy wheels, generous wheel‑arch cladding, roof rails with neon‑green accents, a spare wheel mounted on the boot door, and vertically oriented LED taillights. Although the Jetour T2 has received an international facelift, spy shots show JSW Motors will offer the pre‑facelift version in India.

Context

The launch introduces JSW Motors as a new Indian SUV brand, leveraging an existing Chinese platform to offer a high‑power plug‑in hybrid at a competitive price point.
