UPDATE - follow-up to JSW Combat to debut on December 3: JSW Motors will unveil its first vehicle, the Combat SUV, on December 4, 2026, marking the company's entry into the Indian automotive market as an independent brand. The vehicle will be assembled at the manufacturer's facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, and was originally planned to launch around Diwali before facing a delay to December.

Powertrain and Design

The India-spec JSW Combat features a plug-in hybrid setup combining a 1.5-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine, an 18.4kWh battery, and two electric motors driving the front wheels. Paired with a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission, the system puts out a combined output of 360 horsepower and 610Nm of torque. It offers a claimed pure electric range of 90 kilometres, with the total driving range reaching up to 1,100 kilometres on a full fuel tank. While the international Jetour T2 recently received a facelift, spy shots indicate that India will receive the pre-facelift version.

Features and Pricing

Inside, the 5-seater SUV is expected to feature an upright dashboard with a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, and a 12-speaker Sony sound system. Safety equipment includes six airbags, a 540-degree camera offering surround and underbody views, and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems. JSW Motors aims to price the Combat aggressively between Rs 40 lakh and 50 lakh, positioning it to compete against models like the Kia Sorento, Toyota Fortuner, and MG Majestor.

Context

JSW Motors is a separate entity from JSW MG Motor India and operates through a partnership with China's Chery Automobile. Following the launch of the Combat, the brand plans to introduce further SUVs based on models like the Jaecoo J5 and iCar V23 in 2027.
