Kawasaki has showcased its new Z300 street-naked motorcycle in India, which will serve as the entry-level model in the brand's Z lineup and could share a platform with the Ninja 300.

Bike Features And Engine

At a recent event in Bangalore, the bike was shown to strongly resemble the larger Z900. It could run on a 296cc parallel-twin engine that makes 39 horsepower and 26.1Nm of torque, linked to a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle comes with a wide, upright single-piece handlebar and relaxed riding posture. It also gets a TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, moving away from the semi-digital unit seen on the Ninja 300. Buyers can choose from two colour options: Green and Black.

Timeline And Expected Price

Following the Bangalore display, preview events will happen in Mumbai and Pune on October 18. Bookings open on October 19, and full technical specifications, variant details, and prices will go live on the official website on October 20. The Ninja 300 currently has an ex-showroom price of Rs 3.34 lakh, but the Z300 is expected to cost under Rs 3 lakh because it lacks extra bodywork. In the market, it will compete with models like the KTM 390 Duke and TVS Apache RTR 310.

Context

Motorcycle makers often introduce naked streetfighter versions of their faired bikes to offer a more upright riding position and a lower price point for city riders. Segment rivals in the 300cc to 400cc bracket compete heavily for buyers looking for sporty performance without paying high prices.
