Decades after capturing hearts as television's most famous divine couple, veteran actors Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia are pairing up for a feature-length project for the first time in close to 39 years. Their upcoming film, a social drama titled Notice, is helmed by director Pradeep Gupta and skips a traditional theatrical run entirely. Instead, the movie makes its debut on the streaming platform Waves on November 6 before broadcasting across 36 different satellite television channels. Producer and actor Aditya Pratap Singh Raghuvanshi explained that the direct-to-digital route targets the duo's massive television fanbase rather than urban moviegoers.

The Plot

The narrative places a century-and-a-half-old shop at the heart of the conflict, focusing on the threat of displacement caused by modern development. Govil portrays an everyday citizen fighting against a dishonest system to protect the historic establishment, while Chikhlia essays the role of his supportive wife. Raghuvanshi noted that the project functions as a modern-day interpretation of ancient characters dealing with contemporary struggles in a present-day village setting.

Context

Govil and Chikhlia attained legendary status across India following their iconic roles in Ramanand Sagar's landmark 1987 television serial Ramayan, which routinely brought daily life to a halt during Sunday morning broadcasts. While they briefly appeared together in a 2024 music video, their new film marks their return to full-length cinema together after nearly four decades. Meanwhile, Govil will also be seen playing King Dashrath in another upcoming multi-star project titled Ramayana: Rise of a Legend.
