Actor Nana Patekar passed away in Goa at the age of 75 following a cardiac arrest in the early hours of October 8. His son, Malhar Patekar, confirmed the death after the actor was rushed to Manipal Hospital from his residence and declared dead on arrival.

Reactions and Temple Visit

Actor Tanushree Dutta faced backlash after making an 'evil dead' remark following the news of the actor's passing. She subsequently visited the Mahakal Temple, sharing a video of herself offering prayers before the Mahakal idol. In her Instagram post, she called the news a 'positive development in my life' while also expressing doubts about whether the death report is true. She wrote that she hopes all the evils in her life die off one by one, adding that she cannot deal with persistent negativity and conspiracies.

History of the Case

Tanushree previously accused Nana of sexual harassment on the set of the 2009 film Horn 'Ok' Pleassss. The claim gained widespread attention during the Me Too movement in 2018, leading to an FIR against the actor, which he denied. The case was closed in 2019 due to a lack of sufficient evidence, and the Mumbai Andheri Magistrate Court officially dismissed the criminal proceedings in 2025 because the complaint was filed past the legal time limit.

Context

The Me Too movement brought many long-standing allegations of sexual harassment in the Indian film industry into the public eye. Public reactions to such high-profile legal battles and disputes often remain emotionally charged for years after the initial events.
