Scheduled Outages

Power supply will be suspended in Udumalaipettai and several other Tamil Nadu districts on Monday, October 12, due to monthly maintenance work by the electricity board. According to executive engineer T. Murthy, electricity will remain shut off from 9 am to 5 pm in areas served by the Indira Nagar sub-station.

Affected Areas

Residents in Udumalaipettai can expect outages in Udumalai Min Nagar, Indira Nagar, Chinnappanpudur, Rajavoor, Avalkuttai, Cheran Nagar, Kumaramangalam, Thanthoni, Venkitapuram, Thungavi, Ramegoundanpudur, Medrathi, Polarapatti, and K.K. Pudur. According to a second report from ABP Nadu, routine maintenance involving minor repairs and tree branch trimming near power lines is also driving shutdowns across multiple other regions in the state, including Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Karur, Nagapattinam, Perambalur, Thanjavur, Theni, and Tirupathur.

Context

Electricity boards routinely schedule periodic shutdowns to carry out vital upkeep on transformers, lines, and substations. These temporary disruptions help prevent sudden breakdowns during peak usage times and ensure a stable power grid for consumers.
