Toyota will launch the updated Glanza hatchback on October 14, 2026, about a month after the Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift arrived. Official teasers show a revised front layout where the brand logo moves from the grille to the front edge of the bonnet.
Design And Interior
The front update brings rectangular fog lamps in place of round ones and a hexagonal pattern for the air intake, along with a shiny garnish stretching down into the bumper. The car keeps its overall dimensions and cabin layout, featuring a layered dashboard, physical switches, and a dash-top screen. New steering wheel buttons will support the safety systems.
Performance And Safety
A major mechanical change swaps the old 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol motor for a newer 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z-series unit. This motor makes 83 horsepower and 112 Nm of torque in the Baleno. Buyers can choose between a five-speed manual and a five-speed automated manual transmission, alongside a CNG variant delivering 70 horsepower and 102 Nm. Fuel efficiency is expected to improve from the current 22.35 kpl to 22.94 kpl range. Top trims gain ventilated front seats, a cooled wireless charger, and an upgraded audio system. Safety equipment adds a tyre-pressure monitoring system and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and auto-emergency braking, while retaining six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a head-up display.
Context
This hatchback update follows closely behind partner brand Maruti Suzuki's refresh of the underlying platform architecture. Toyota sells several shared models in India under a partnership agreement with Maruti Suzuki, adapting them with distinct exterior styling. The Glanza competes directly in the local premium hatchback market against models like the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz.
