Mahindra will unveil the CNG‑powered version of its XUV3XO SUV on 15 October 2026, targeting buyers looking for cheaper running costs and positioning the model against Tata’s Nexon i‑CNG and Maruti’s Brezza S‑CNG. The XUV3XO currently has no CNG option, leaving a gap in Mahindra’s SUV lineup. In August 2026 the XUV3XO family, including the electric variant, sold 8,302 units, a 50.37 % rise year‑on‑year, but it placed seventh in the sub‑compact SUV segment behind Nexon, Brezza, Venue and Sonet. The teaser released on 12 October shows a red XUV3XO with a body‑coloured panel between the headlamps, slim metallic strips beside the Twin Peaks emblem and a framed panoramic sunroof, signalling a higher‑trim offering. A white spy shot from MRD VLOGS displays a CNG sticker on the rear windscreen, with the vehicle mostly uncamouflaged. The upcoming model is expected to retain Mahindra’s 1.2‑litre turbocharged MPFI petrol engine that makes about 110 bhp and 200 Nm, though CNG‑mode output and fuel‑efficiency figures are still pending. The CNG version will join the REVX M and AX5 line‑up. The REVX M petrol currently lists at Rs 8.59 lakh ex‑showroom, while other petrol trims range from Rs 7.79 lakh to Rs 15.04 lakh and diesel from Rs 9.36 lakh to Rs 14.07 lakh. A sub‑10‑lakh entry price would keep the CNG model affordable while sitting above the base petrol price.

Context

Introducing a factory‑fitted CNG option lets Mahindra compete in a price‑sensitive segment where fuel cost savings matter, and follows a broader industry shift toward alternative‑fuel SUVs.
