Dropout will debut "MP3", its first original scripted live‑action series since rebranding, on Nov. 4 with three episodes releasing bi‑weekly through Dec. 2.

What Happened

"MP3" is a three‑episode music‑video‑countdown spoof that presents three absurd videos each episode. The show is hosted by Dane Cartel (Jeremy Culhane), Dr. Muse‑Tina (Skye Townsend) and Chia (Aparna Nancherla). They interview wild guests, spar with producer Thomas Cartel (Paul F. Tompkins) and roll out new videos performed by Dropout comedians Lou Wilson, Lily Du, Katie Marovitch and others. Writers Zach Reino and Jess McKenna also compose the songs, which will be released on music‑streaming platforms after each episode airs.

Background

Dropout, formerly CollegeHumor, shifted to mainly unscripted and animated content after its 2017 rebrand. The move marks the platform’s return to live‑action scripted comedy after a seven‑year gap, the last being series such as "Ultramechatron Team Go!", "Kingpin Katie", "Hardly Working" and the Star Wars parody "Troopers". The company is best known for the competition series "Game Changer" and the D&D actual‑play show "Dimension 20".

Context

The launch signals Dropout’s effort to broaden its original content slate beyond unscripted formats, aiming to attract viewers who enjoy parody music‑video shows and scripted comedy alike.
