Parker Posey is set to star in the horror film “Sleepover,” a Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Universal Pictures production slated for theatrical release on Oct. 8, 2027. The movie is directed by Jacob Chase, who co‑wrote the script with Bryce McGuire; it is adapted from McGuire’s original short story. Jason Blum produces, while Chase, McGuire and Bea Sequeira serve as executive producers and Lilly Tyson oversees the project. Cinescape Entertainment produces the film, which is presented by Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Atomic Monster. Blumhouse Atomic Monster previously produced Chase’s “Insidious: Out of the Further,” which opened in August, earned $60 million worldwide and a total $169 million against an $18 million budget. Chase’s earlier directing credits include the 2020 horror movie “Come Play” and the Peacock series “The Girl and the Woods.” Posey, who recently appeared in “Thelma,” “Beau Is Afraid,” and the third season of HBO’s “White Lotus,” is no stranger to horror, having played Jennifer Jolie in “Scream 3” (2000) and vampire CEO Danica Talos in “Blade: Trinity” (2004). She will also appear in Martin McDonagh’s “Wild Horse Nine,” which premiered at the 2026 Venice Film Festival and releases on Nov. 6, and she hosts the reality competition “The Mob,” debuting on Hulu Oct. 26. Posey is represented by CAA, Entertainment 360, Yorn, Levine, Barnes, Krintzman, Rubenstein, Kohner, Endlich, Goodell & Gellman and Independent Public Relations.
Context
Blumhouse Atomic Monster is known for producing low‑budget horror films that often become major box‑office successes, a model that has helped launch several new genre projects.
